The Parliamentary Budget Office has initiated the start of the Cost Benefit Analysis training course

By the initiative of the Parliamentary Budget Office of Georgia, Cost Benefit Analysis (CBA) training course has started with the purpose of strengthening the analytical skills of the economic team on the apparatus of the Parliament of Georgia.

Cost Benefit Analysis is a method of evaluating and comparing the costs and benefits initiated by implementing a specific policy instrument. It represents a useful tool for decision making process based on evidence, throughout both, ex-ante and ex-post evaluation.

Andria Gvidiani, the head of the Parliamentary Budget Office addressed the participants of the training with a speech where he pointed out the importance of the Cost Benefit Analysis method in the law-making process.

“Evidence-based decision-making represents an undoubtedly important aspect of legislative process. Therefore, raising the awareness of the employees of the sectoral committees is one of the priorities that will contribute to the maximum information transparency for the legislative body in the law-making process. Consequently, within the scope of its mandate, the Parliamentary Budget Office will certainly contribute to raising awareness in terms of making evidence-based decisions as well as preparing the relevant documentation” – said Andria Gvidiani, the head of the Parliamentary Budget Office.

The training course was held with the support of the United States Agency for International Development in Georgia (USAID) Economic Governance Program representatives.
